recycle-a-desk
The glass top on this desk was recycled from a commercial front door. It’s nice and thick, and it’s also laminated for safety! The arrow on the end came from an old sign I purchased. It was part of the sign back in the day and I thought it would be a cool desk holder upper. I had to repair a few rust holes, then strip and repaint it with new advertising. After all that, I gave it a wet sand, a few whacks with the hammer, and it’s a new old sign….again.
outdoor fireplace
In the interest of not being smoked out while enjoying a fire, this fireplace is about four feet tall and the chimney goes all the way to the top. It’s three sided opening puts out plenty of heat and there are two adjustable fresh air vents on the bottom to make it easy to keep the fire going. It also has a pit cover, so at the end of the night, you can close the vents, put the lid on and there’s no worry about catching anything on fire!…that’s never a bad thing. It’s capped off on top with a few slats previously used to dry tobacco leaves.
it’s the bomb!!
This bomb arrived at my door by way of indiana. In fact, when it arrived, it was no more than the bottom piece with four fins. I formed the body from hot rolled sheet metal and capped it off with a steel bowl. The outside is stenciled military style to resemble a practice bomb from the fifties. It’s now a media storage device that is sure to be different than anything you’ve seen elsewhere.

redwood slat gate
This gate is the piece that spun off into the el sendero mail box, as well as two gates, a full set of built in outdoor kitchen cabinet doors, and an air conditioner mask for that project. The frame of the gate is one inch by three inch tubing set on edge for a little depth. The tubing is carried all the way across the top of the block wall for a seamless look.
el sendero mailbox
This mail box was custom built for Aperture Design of Phoenix. It’s five feet long, four feet tall and about ten inches wide. It’s steel frame structure is layered with several widths and lengths of redwood. This mailbox does double duty as an address marker as well. A custom mail box is a quick and easy way to add a neat custom touch to your home, and they can be tied into nearly any design theme or personal taste!
pirate ship pot rack
It just seems to have the feel of a pirate ship to me. I think it has to do with the support cables and the overall shape. This is a fairly modern pot rack made from mild steel and inlaid with an exotic wood. The ceiling hangers have more of an industrial feel with the clevises and mounting hardware. I find that mixing modern and industrial form together usually creates a unique and interesting piece!
perpetual plants
I’m not big on yard work, and I don’t think I’m alone! These metal plants use no water and they are the most hearty plants on the planet. Some creations are inspired by actual plants and some are straight out of my imagination! The planters are 16 gauge hot rolled steel with a matte clear powder coat finish and they add a clean contemporary finishing touch.
mod address marker
This address marker was water jet cut from a piece of half-inch thick hot rolled steel, and backed up with a lime green panel to really make the numbers jump out at you. A design like this lends itself well to being lit from the rear to give a cool hovering glow at night. This piece was left raw and completely as cut, which in any other state would mean, after a few months….a cool rust colored patina! In Arizona, however,….well, check back in a few years and we’ll see how it’s doing!
sunburst les paul
Les Paul is rock and roll…..even non-guitar loving people know what a Les Paul is. There isn’t enough room on this site to list the number of amazing guitarists who’ve used this guitar to create music that is still relevant today. This steely sunburst piece is an exact, to-scale piece with real pickups, strings and all the other hardware. It would be a cool piece for any guitar collection!

flared hole pub table set
Yet another project with tons of holes!! This four by four modern pub table set is something you probably won’t find in anyone else’s home. I definitely have a lot of enthusiasm for a lot of flared holes. I always see them on airplanes and race cars and they just look so damn cool!!!
Clearly, I did not make the awesome sign in the background. This is another example of how I can help you with uncommon installations. I fabricated a interior skeleton to fit this sign and mounted it to the wall with minimal drilling and no additional holes to the original sign.
